ABOUT WALKIES-EDINBURGH, EST.1991

Walkies was established in 1991 and was Edinburgh's first professional dog walking service. It was set up by Brian Armstrong (an ex-merchant seaman) with the help of the Government Enterprise Allowance Scheme. The dog walking business was so unique that it received press coverage in publications such as the Evening News, the Herald and the Scottish SPCA News.
Throughout his time as a dog walker, Brian has gained invaluable experience of many breeds of dogs including spaniels, retrievers, poodles, terriers, collies, dalmations, alsations, dachshunds, labradors, boxers and many marvellous cross breeds of all shapes sizes and ages.

Brian has used the successful philosphy that dogs are pack animals by nature. Every pack has a leader, known as the alpha animal. The alpha is the boss who makes decisions for the entire pack - obviously Brian is the alpha. All other members of the pack form a hierarchy of dominance and submission, all dogs have their place. Dogs are like their wolf ancesters, they are very social and want to and enjoy being with their pack and thrive on this companionship.

Since its beginnings almost 20 years ago with only a few dogs, Brian has consistently provided a professional and reliable dog walking service to many people and their dogs. Brian's wife, Moira joined the business 10 years ago and is responsible for the marketing and the website.  Over these years Moira has learned from Brian's vast experience of working with dogs and is also a very experienced and adept dog walker.
